ICL ABN 1st Regional Symposium on Landslides in the Adriatic-Balkan Region (ReSyLAB)

3rd Workshop of the Croatian-Japanese Project ‘Risk Identification and Land-Use Planning for Disaster Mitigation of Landslides and Floods in Croatia’

titled

‘Landslide and flood hazard assessment’

held in Zagrebu, Croatia, 6-9 March 2013

The Symposium and Workshop aimed to provide regional and international research in landslide and flood characterization, modeling, monitoring and mapping contributions from international researchers, scientists and experts in the academia and in the industry from the region, Japan and other countries. The Symposium and Workshop provided a broad coverage of the scientific and engineering aspects of hazards related to landslides and floods.

SYMPOSIUM AND WORKSHOP THEMES:

  • Aerial photo and satellite image interpretation

  • Landslide mapping

  • Landslide monitoring

  • Soil strength tests

  • Understanding of landslide movement (gradual movement and movement triggered by earthquake and rainfall)

  • Landslide modelling

  • Development of methods to evaluate transformation process of rainfall – runoff

  • Analysis of triggering rainfall amount for flood flow and debris flow

  • Risk assessment of potential rapid landslide movement

  • Landslide inventory

  • Landslide susceptibility

  • Landslide and flood hazard mapping

  • Development of early warning systems for landslides, debris flows and flood flows

  • Application of hazard and risk maps in the system of urban planning
